David Wright has lost six HR to Citi

I don't usually link to other articles here, but ESPN has posted a fascinating look at exactly what the dimensions of Citi Field have done to sap power out of the Mets offense. According to one of my favorite baseball web sites, hittrackeronline.com, the Mets have already lost 36 home runs that likely would have cleared the wall at Shea.

Now remember, this is not necessarily a bad thing -- it's just as difficult for opponents to hit balls out of Citi Field, and if the Mets want, they can ultimately build teams around these dimensions and use it as a tremendous home field advantage.

But at a time when the Mets are struggling mightily to hit anything at all, it's tough not to look at all those would-be home runs and wonder what might have been.

This team can not use injuries as an excuse. those on the D.l play with no passion and epitomize the lack of the will to compete. The are at best an AA team. A AA team at least cares.

The statement that the Mets have lost 36 homers due to Citi Field is INCORRECT. A TOTAL of 36 homers have been lost due to Citi -- 20 by the opposition and 16 by the Mets.
