I hear autumn is nice in Denver

A few positive notes out of Mets land today, on the day the team is celebrating one of the most positive years in its history:

  • wrightconcussion.JPGDavid Wright (right) says he's still on track to rejoin the active roster when he's eligible to come off the disabled list, on Sept. 1 in Denver. Wright has been participating in aerobic exercise and should resume baseball activities within the next day or two.
  • J.J. Putz threw a 19-pitch bullpen session at Citi Field and reported no ill effects. He's due to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Class A Brooklyn. From there, he'll move on to Double-A Binghamton, before also joining the Mets -- he hopes -- in Denver.
  • Despite the speculation surrounding Billy Wagner, Mets manager Jerry Manuel won't shy away from using him tonight against the Phillies. Saturday is Wagner's day to pitch, and if the situation arises, he will do so. Unless the Mets and Red Sox work out a deal, Wagner remains Mets property.
Nice ceremony at Citi Field honoring the 1969 Mets. Marty Noble has your coverage on that front on Mets.com. You others can follow me on Twitter @AnthonyDiComo.

From the beginning of the season my gut feeling was there was something wrong about Jose Reyes. I was getting the feeling he didn't want to play for Jerry. Maybe I'm crazy, but there was something there.....or not there. No smile, no enthusiasum, certainly no running. Or maybe he was just hurting then.
My feeling on the rest of the season. Give the fans free food to make up for all the money we spent on plan or season tickets and the insult of paying another 18$ to park and still have some tickets to use. I'm bringing my grandchildren in Sept and Oct and might as well take them to the Newark Bears. What a shame. I've been a lifelong fan and this year has been unbelievable with all the injuries.

This organization is a complete joke. The entire medical staff needs to be fired. How can a different player get hurt almost everyday. The strength and conditioning coach needs to be fired. How can a team that has absolutely no chance of winning anything the rest of the way continue to play guys who are 35+ and have able bodies in AAA that are under 28.

Bottom Line - FIRE OMAR - Trade the few quality parts you have for quantity and begin the rebuilding process. This team is going no where fast.

Even if this team gets healthy in 2010 they are no better than the 4th best team in this division. (And the nationals are closing in fast).

As a fan with a 15 game ticket plan I agree with the post before me that going to these games and paying $18 to park and another $16 per person for a hotdog, fries, and drink is ridiculous. The Mets love their tier pricing plan however in 2009 the Mets are value team and all the concession prices, food prices, ticket prices, and parking should reflect this.

After reading your articles and now your blog, it's time,Marty, for you to ask Omar for a job. Nobody writes more favorable comments about the horrible Met baseball operations than you. Like Dick Young, the Mets must have given someone in your family a job!

I am in total agreement with all the posts before me this whole organiztion is a joke. Omar is totally not there as a G.M., Jerry is not a players manager and the training staff is just a joke. How is that so many players get hurt in one season as did this year. I mean come on these are players that are said to be in the best shape at the start of spring training. What is going on in the club house? The Mets top brass need to clean the whole house after this season, if that is what you call this. We need a new G.M. coaching staff right down to A ball, some players that are going to come to the ball park each day and play with some heart. Yes we have some hear now but we still need more. Yes we had key players go down with injuries but we were bad before all that happened. I have also head that both Jerry and Omar are safe after the season Why? What have they done to better this team? They blow it late last year they blow it real early this year so why do they get to come back? Lets move on.
